I just wanted to say:
A heartfelt thank you to anyone who has clicked on this blog and read or looked or left a comment. Nearly all of those comments have been lovely and have meant a great deal to me.
I did at one point receive a flurry of weird/mildly offensive ones which made me feel a bit odd about blogging but I expect that's all part of it.
The reason I'm writing this is because lately a lot of people have stopped following this blog which has made me think about a few things eg., content. (Obviously those who've already left won't be reading this so if you see them, perhaps you'd pass on the message.)
I get a small pang of sadness when people move on, especially those whose blogs I really like.
The feeling doesn't linger too long though, unlike the smarting on my lower gum that came from ramming my toothbrush into it during some enthusiastic teeth cleaning two days ago. Have you ever done that? It really hurts.
Here's a picture for you. It's been like high summer in England today with temperatures at around 16ºC (68ºF). Almost balmy.
I hope you have a lovely week end.

I have a plan. Reach out to people, just to check-in. This blog post
counts. Realize that nothing is happening yet, things are just being talked
about. A...

I understand your agony. I feel like they're breaking up with me. I know I can be a little prickly sometimes, but still...
ReplyDeleteThey just haven't taken the time to get to know you. Things can be so hot and cold on the net sometimes.
DeleteHey, great photo; I love what you put on your blog. I wouldn't worry about people not following; bloggers come and go, and you'll always have new ones come along. Talking about the weather: I managed to sit outside on Thursday afternoon with a cuppa, in the sunshine for the first time in months. It was lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Dicky I took it in Regents Park. Glad you got to soak up some rays yesterday, the warmth is just so lovely isn't it?
DeleteI didn't expect any comments after this post so thank you for what you said.
(And I've just watched the news which always puts things in perspective!)
Oh hun ... you sound so sad.Don't worry! Followers come and go, but the good ones stay and slowly slowly your following will grow. Just keep writing from your heart, commenting on other blogs you like and things will be fine.I love your photo ... who would think it was February?? Take care Lucy.

Sarah - Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Oh dear - I feel a bit daft coming across as pitiful. I was just hoping to pass on a bit of gratitude. Will try harder to edit better (or even edit!) next time.
DeleteLucy- I know how you feel, we take it personally when we lose a blogger follower--particularly if it's a long time follower whom you've also followed (and left comments). I had this happen recently with one of my earliest followers. I thought it was so odd, particularly because it came after I left a comment, so of course, I wondered if the comment was taken the wrong way. (I think it was more like the blogger had a moment of realization --"Oh, her! I don't read her anymore--I"ll just de-friend her!") But we mustn't worry, it's not worth it.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see you writing more here. And your photo is lovely. :)
Jayne - Thanks so much for your response. You're absolutely right of course - it's not worth the worry. I think I just had a 'moment' and thought I really must show a little gratitude and it didn't come across quite as I'd hoped. Good to get a bit of objectivity sometimes!
DeleteAlthough it has been a while since I visited, you remain one of my favorite bloggers. I hope you return some times, when it feels right to blog again.
