Eat Cake. Raise Money

Liberty London Girl posted this and inspired me to contribute something baked to the Cakes for Japan fund raiser where all proceeds will be going directly to the Red Cross.

The pop-up cake shop will be open on Friday 18th March 2011 at Maiden, 188 Shoreditch High Street London EC2 and the organisers are encouraging people to host similar events nation/world wide.

I thought I'd just mention that the Cakes for Japan (London) event raised over £2000 in just three hours! Visit here if you want to read more.

  1. Oh SF- great idea! So good to get involved like this, and very thoughtful of you. (Those sushi cakes are amazing! Your brownies look mighty delicious, too.) Japan needs all the help we can give them. :)

  3. Jayne - It's a great idea isn't it? And the sushi cakes are incredible looking.

Shopgirl - It seems as if there are an awful lot of people coming up with some great events for people to join in with if they feel able to.

    Thanks to both.

  5. Dear Jayne,

I'm so sorry for not having replied to your comment sooner.

I didn't actually deliver the cakes myself as I had an appointment on the morning of the bake sale but I made four brownie cakes in total.

Mr. SF kindly couriered them over by bike in the pouring rain and handed them over just as they were running low on supplies.

Amazingly the sale raised £2000 in just three hours and seemed to spark a flurry of cake sales in various places around the UK and overseas as well.

Thanks for asking and I'm sorry again for this late response.
